Comment on wildlife refuge March 26
PACIFIC COUNTY - The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is seeking input from the public regarding their interests, concerns, and viewpoints about important refuge management issues. This information will help in the production of a Comprehensive Conservation Plan (CCP) for Willapa National Wildlife Refuge. The CCP will describe the desired future conditions of the refuge and will guide management actions for the next 15 years.

As they begin this planning process, they are provided the opportunity to look at their habitat management and public programs from fresh perspectives. The mission of the refuge will remain the same as when the areas were set aside; to protect wildlife and to provide opportunities for wildlife-dependent recreation consistent with wildlife needs. Your insights and observations are needed to provide a more complete and thorough process.

Share your ideas by attending one of two upcoming public meetings, or by submitting written comments to the refuge by April 30. These initial public scoping meetings are opportunities to help identify the issues to be addressed in the CCP and to have your questions answered about the refuges. The public meetings have been scheduled at different locations for your convenience.

South Bend: Tuesday, March 25 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Willapa Harbor Chamber of Commerce Heritage Museum, 915 W. First (corner of Alder and First) in South Bend.

Ilwaco: Wednesday, March 26 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum, 115 Lake Street in Ilwaco.
